Funding from Social Enterprise Support Fund, distributed by the School for Social Entrepreneurs, has helped us to keep our shop running, keep our customers and volunteers safe, providing volunteer opportunities anda place where you can find a friendly face to talk to.Thanks to National Lottery players for making this possible. The Social Enterprise Support Fund provides essential financial support to help social enterprises during COVID-19. It will help social enterprises to meet additional demands, change the way they work, make their spaces COVID-secure, and manage liquidity during the next six months. The Social Enterprise Support Fund was established in partnership by The National Lottery Community Fund and five social enterprise support agencies: Big Issue Invest, The Key Fund, Resonance, the School for Social Entrepreneurs (SSE) and UnLtd with support from CAF Venturesome, the Young Foundation and Ashoka. Thanks to National Lottery players, £18.7 million of National Lottery funding has been committed to the fund to be used to provide grants to social enterprise organisations that are best placed to support local, vulnerable communities in response to the COVID-19 crisis
Mindful Gifts CIC has a new volunteer, published award-winning Poet, Ellis Robinson Aka Ellis Unchained. Ellis, an ex-infantry soldier, served in the Mercian regiment and deployed to Afghanistan, op Herrick 19. Upon his return and transition into civilian life, he was diagnosed with PTSD and OCD. Life became too much for him, to the point he felt a change was needed and decided to take his treatment into his own hands, with the guidance of Birmingham veterans mental health service. Ellis understands that he is not out of the woods of yet but recognizes how far he has come. Ellis publishes all his poems, articles and short stories on his website. Did you know that in July Mindful Gifts CIC gave away over £1000 worth of free activities to care homes that visited our shop in Darlaston. The care homes included Rushall Care Home, Island Court, Harper Villas, Crossways Kelvedon House, Bloxwich Hospital, Oakwood Lodge, Bartholemew Lodge, Greenleigh and Deighton Court.
