Being a CIC means that Mindful Gifts operates for the benefit of the community rather than for personal gain.

The story so far….
The founder, Vicki Phipps, recognised how difficult it was for family and carers to find suitable gift ideas for people with dementia and gifts that would benefit the person rather than just be hid away in a draw and never used. Vicki also found that many people were not taking part in an activity that had a positive impact on their well-being and more often than not were spending long periods of time asleep and unmotivated in participating in daily activities. Additionally, she recognised that care homes and hospitals needed to be more dementia friendly and be able to access adult appropriate activities.
Vicki set about researching and sourcing adult appropriate and suitable gifts for people with dementia from reputable suppliers. After many months of locating appropriate activities and testing them out within the community, the Mindful Gifts website was created and in January 2014 Mindful Gifts became a registered Community Interest Company (CIC).
